黃河協奏曲 は 黄河大合唱 （Yellow River Cantata 、冼星海 作曲）を元に 殷承宗、儲望華 が 钢琴协奏曲（ピアノ協奏曲）に仕立てた曲で、1970年代前半は アメリカや日本でも結構演奏されたようだ。作曲者は中央楽団集団 となっているが、この二人の手によるものだそうな。 殷承宗 にはオフィシャルサイトもある。
まあ、黄河大合唱 は中国の愛国（＆抗日）の曲でもあるから、日本で今後演奏される機会はたぶん無いだろうが、なかなか泣かせるメロディーに溢れた曲である。西洋音楽の技法と中国語は、日本語よりも親和性が良いのでは？と思う。

XRCD化により信じられない程の音質で蘇ったシベリウスの2番交響曲と同様、このラフマニノフもXRCD化と共にこの解説も丁寧な日本語訳で収録して欲しいものですが・・・
Jack Diether の解説には、この曲につきまとう慣習的なカットについて触れられているのでその辺りを少し・・・
The E Minor is Rachmaninoff's longest symphony, and it should be noted that there are today as many as 17 cuts traditionally made in it. These cuts were "officially sanctioned"(though not strictly enjoined) by the aging composer literally decades after the event - between 1933 and 1935, according to Maestro Ormandy. They are from four to 76 bars in length, 300 bars in all, or about the length of an average symphonic movement in themselves. The deleted passages contain melodic and harmonic extensions, developments and parts of reprises. These cuts alter the shape and musical meaning of symphony, of course, and it can be argued that they also tend to impede its normal dynamic flow. Rachmaninoff's extended passage characteristically ebb and flow much in the manner of Elgar's, whose two symphonies are each comparable in size to this one. ....（後略）

さて、ラフマニノフといえば、RCA Victor の専属アーティスト ということもあり、彼の演奏はRCA Victor Red Seal（所謂「赤盤アーティスト」ですな・・・）のSPで発売されています。これらの演奏はＬＰ、そしてCD復刻もされており、息の長いロングセラーとなっています。
映画シャインで、蓄音機からラフマニノフのピアノ協奏曲第3番（ニッパーマーク（たぶんRCAビクター盤）SP盤が乗っかってたかな？）が流れるシーンがあったと思います。あの蓄音機のターンテーブルでくるくる回るニッパー君のシーンが印象的でしたね。
さて、このLPもちゃんとニッパー君がおります。インナー・スリーヴはごらんの通り。

シャイン・・・の再現には程遠い・・・ですが、一応ターンテーブル上でくるくる回るニッパー君。曲もラフマニノフのシンフォニーで演奏がオーマンディ・フィラデルフィア管弦楽団・・・これ以上を何を望むべきか・・・酒か？
今日は元気がいいな・・・（酒の）気分次第で発泡具合や味が異なるのが面白い。マスプロ製品でない楽しみがここにある。

「ペトルーシュカ」のCDには「火の鳥」がカップリングされていますが、演奏はセル＆クリーヴランド管弦楽団です。これはこれで良い演奏ですが、やはりファンとしてはオーマンディとフィラデルフィアの演奏を組み合わせて欲しいです・・・が、セルのファンも同じような事を考えていらっしゃるかもしれませんね。

いつの間にか、モルモン・タバナクル合唱団CD紹介シリーズになってしまいましたが、これが最後のCD・・・かな。
タイトルも、More Greatest Hits とうことで、これまでのベスト盤の補遺編・・・というアルバムですかな・・・既に Sony Classical として再編も終わっており、レーベルも Sony Classical となっています。
全18トラックの内4トラックの伴奏がオーマンディ・フィラデルフィア管弦楽団によるものです・・・が、最後は第9の「歓喜の歌」です。

このCDは愛国歌（あんまり好きなイメージじゃないけど）を23曲集めたアルバムです。
